During the procedure, a lubricated probe is gently inserted into the vagina, delivering continuous CO2 energy along the vaginal wall. This process thickens the vaginal tissue, increasing natural secretions and alleviating dryness and discomfort. The treatment typically lasts about five minutes, with optimal results achieved after 2-3 sessions and minimal downtime.
Ideal candidates are perimenopausal or post-menopausal women who cannot or prefer not to take hormones and are experiencing symptoms like vaginal dryness, reduced secretions, early-stage stress urinary incontinence, or discomfort related to vaginal laxity. A negative Pap smear within the last year is required before undergoing treatment.
Patients should avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or Accutane prior to the procedure. They must also not be pregnant or breastfeeding and free from any current pelvic or urinary tract infections. Additionally, the treatment area should be shaved before the appointment.
After the procedure, patients are advised to apply a water-based lubricant or Aquaphor to the external area and cleanse gently with mild soap and water twice daily.
